Everyday I take my dog for walks.
My phone stays home, it’s not time to talk.
It’s time to breathe crisp air
Make friends with trees and stare
At beauty in every flower
To gaze at sun and wonder,
If I were here as any other,
Would songs of birds reach my ear
Or would I fail to hear?
Everyday I walk the streets of LA.
No plan, my feet go where they may.
As I walk I stop and listen
To wind in trees and the river glistens.
The birds and flowers speak to me.
Singing tales of wonder and mystery,
And it feels as if the entire history,
Of my city and home, can be found
In every sight and sound.
Everyday I spend time in Nature.
My friends, each plant and creature.
They speak to me and tell me stories
Of wonder, praise, and every glory
To be found in yards and gardens.
Great beauty ignored all too often
By those whose hearts are hardened.
They can’t help but pity
Those who miss Nature in the city.
